The year kicked of with a return of my Saturday early morning Circuit Class - just the thing to help with those new years resolutions.
Using the specialist knowledge I have built up, I launched four new small group fitness classes, all on Friday mornings.
- FUSIONFitness - a pilates inspired class
- Chair Based Fitness - a class for peole with mobility, balance and neurologoical conditions which impact co-ordination and movement e.g Parkinsons.
- Buggy Fit - a fitness class where baby comes too!
- and a lunchtime HALF HOUR HIIT - for those who want to get fit fast
XMAS FIT Circuit classes start again for the run up to Christmas.
I started the month with an excellent training course to teach the class INSANITY LIVE! This group class is based on the global success of High Intensity bodyweight workouts. Mix in driving music and full body moves, its an addictive mix. workout.
My first visit to Therapy Expo where I was able to listen to some inspiartional speakers from the world of therapy and rehabilitation. It demonstrated the important cross-over beween multi modal therapies and fitness instruction.
I started the month with an excellent training course to teach the class P90X LIVE! This group class is based on the global success that is the P90X training programme - a progressive 90 day transformation workout. P90X LIVE takes the best of this programme and mixes it with great moves and great music for a class workout you won't forget!
At the opposite end of the scale I attended a functional aging certification workshop - to learn more about the issues that effect all opf us as we get older and how we can work to continue to be active whatever age or condition we are currently in. Some great learning that I have already been able to put intopractice with clients.
I also squeezed in a visit to the Leisure Industry Exhibition and seminars (LIW) at the NEC Birmingham. Good to see what's happening in the world of fitness and listen to some really though provoking talks on the health of our nation.
Attended the EliteSport conference at ExCel, London - some great speakers and new ideas to put into practice.
Started my role as Gym Manager at the People's Gym & Fitness Centre, Sedbergh. Looking forward to helping everyone get active!
The big move
Just completed a Kettlebell Instructor Couse, with great training provided by Quantum HFE. Looking forward to putting these new found skills into practice.
Started the month with an excellent fitness training course, looking at the exercise analysis for the core.
This was swiftly followed by the Sports Massage Association (SMA) Conference. Good to meet some old friends and learn some new skills.
Towards the end of the month I visited CAMEXPO at London's Olympia venue. This was a first for me and recommended by an SMA colleague. I managed to attended two great seminar workshops run by James Earles, the UK's foremeost trainer on Active Facial Release' and 'Anatomy Trains' and someone I had wanted to hear speak. Really useful concepts and techniques to add to my sports massage / soft tissue therapy skills but also though provoking in how this knew understanding impacts on fitness training and instruction. A Long but really useful day.
The big move to SEDBERGH is complete but still boxes and equipment to unpack - isn't there always! Still commuting South on a regular basis to look after my clients in Stamford Lincolshire and the surrounding areas.
